Food expert, author, and head of product
Anh Lê is the founder and co-owner of the LêLê restaurants in Copenhagen. She is known in Denmark as a businesswoman, cookbook author and as ambassador for Vietnamese food. Anh also gives lectures and events about (and with) the joy of Vietnamese cooking.
In the media
Anh Lê is often seen on Danish TV when the topic is Vietnamese food. Her goal is to introduce all Danes to the Vietnamese food culture. In 2012, she was on the travel and food program “Eat Vietnam” on DR.
Anh can often be seen on “Good morning Denmark “on TV2, where she rejoices and inspires with her Vietnamese dishes.
Together with editor-in-chief of Ekstra Bladet Karen Bro, Anh hosts the lecture and debate events “Female Spoken”. Here is invited to “of the record debate” on “women, society and responsibility”, with Karen Bro as chairman, followed by follow-up conversation over a dinner composed by Anh herself. Both Danish and international debates, politicians and writers have visited the events.
The Lê family opened their first restaurant in 2003 and at the same time got the Danes to open their eyes to Vietnamese food. As the Danes’ love for the delicate Vietnamese cuisine grew, the family opened more restaurants. Today, the family owns a gourmet restaurant – street kitchens, a food truck and a catering department.
Anh Lê was born in Vietnam and came to Denmark as a five-year-old in the late seventies. As a child she helped her mother in the kitchen and in her parents’ barbecue restaurant in North Jutland. She was immediately fascinated by cooking but dreamed of experimenting with more refined dishes. Her many trips and longer stays in both Vietnam and France have laid a good foundation and inspiration for food at the families restaurants. Today, Anh’s great passion, besides the Vietnamese cooking, is her town garden in the family home. Follow her projects both in the garden, the kitchen and on facebook and instagram.
In 2008, Anh published her first cookbook “LêLês Street Kitchen” and in 2014 her second cookbook “LêLês Green Kitchen” was published.
Anh’s latest cookbook “LêLês Urtekøkken” was published in March 2017 and contains 60 new Vietnamese recipes and Anh’s guide on how to start your own vegetable garden with both Danish and more exotic varieties.
Lêles herbal kitchen - New cookbook out now
Do you have a gardener in you? Or do you just want some Vietnamese inspiration for the dinner table? Then Anh Read new cookbooks “LêLês Herbal Garden”, maybe just the book you lack on the rack.
“The inner peace is to watch and eat,” says Anh Lê in the book, where home-grown herbs and vegetables have the main role. The book contains recipes for sauces, salads, finger food, simmer dishes, dinner menus and soups – a total of 60 recipes from Anh’s Vietnamese cuisine. At the same time, it has an introduction to cultivating its own herbs – both the classic and the more exotic.
The herbs of the book can be grown in vegetable gardens, tall beds, balcony boxes and window sills. In addition, Anh Lê, who is not born with green fingers, honestly tells about the process of building his garden – both practical and mental.
